As-salamu alaykum السلام عليكم, lovelies!
Welcome to my Fashion Retrospection series. It's where I review my favourite looks of the entertainment industry.
I absolutely love award shows.
And no, it isn’t really because of
the winners and the performances. Those things are secondary for me.
I love viewing the red carpet
fashion! It’s so interesting to view the outfits that people have chosen.
For everyone who doesn’t know, HUM
Awards is an award ceremony hosted by a Pakistani entertainment channel called HUM
Tv. This year they were held at Dubai World Trade Center back in April. (Yes, I know it's October & this happened almost 6 months ago & I should probably be reviewing the Lux Style Awards that just took place.. But I enjoyed this one more, probably because there was a bigger turnout.)
I was quite unaware of the Pakistani showbiz industry until perhaps a couple of
years ago I believe, despite growing up in a household where anytime you pass
by the telly, you will only see Pakistani politicians adamantly debating conspiracy theories and/or the mother-in-law furiously trying to bring every aspect of her son's marriage life under her control because she has pre determined that the daughter in law is persona non grata. My paki peeps yknow what I'm
sayin'
Also, hands down, the Pakistani tv
industry produces some of the best shows I have ever seen.
I’m not just saying
this because I’m culturally rooted there but the shows have proven to enjoy
tremendous success internationally as well due to the relatable subject matter
and content.
You must give one a try if possible!
The following were some of my favourite
looks:
Mahira Khan is the epitome of elegance. Seriously. She is stunning in this emerald green Feeha Jamshed outfit coupled with gold accessories and her signature red lip.
This is a bit different to the kind of outfits that I like but I think Sanam Saeed carried this off really well. If I recall correctly, there were four Shehla Chatoor creations (The other three actresses' were Ayesha Khan, Ayesha Omar & Anoushey Ashraf), but this was the winner.
Love. This. Ensemble. Urwa Hocane wow-ed in this Tabassum Mughal dress & I love the combination of taupe & baby pink. *insert heart eyes emoji*
Whilst compiling this post, I am realising how much I am loving these neutral palette of colours. Sabeeka Imam does look like she's attending prom in this Elan gown though. Hehe. Also, her makeup. ❤
My favourite couple in the Pakistani entertainment industry. The husband-wife duo are so great together. (& Don't even get me started on their baby girl who is quite possibly the most adorable child EVER) Anyhow, doesn't Syra Shehroz look like a Disney princess in this floral printed Nomi Ansari dress? A bit of an explosion of bright colours but she really looks like a happy unicorn, doesn't she?
Simplicity. Is Sophisticated. My favourite thing about this look is how decent it is, with the full-length and full sleeves. She chose something unique to what the other actresses usually wear with a more Eastern vibe which is appreciable and appropriate since this is a Pakistani industry event and unfortunately the culture isn't always rightly portrayed in the media. I can never emphasise enough how much beauty there is in covering one self. I think this was Maya Ali's first red carpet if I'm not mistaken and she looks very pretty.
Aaaand this, ladies. The crème de la crème. ❤
Saved my most favourite look for last. Mansha Pasha stuns in this classic custom-made Adnan Pardesi gown in black & ivory with a lace overlay. It flows perfectly and is so well tailored. Moreover, as I mentioned with Maya Ali, I will always be immediately taken with a fully covered, hijabi appropriate gown - there's really no other word for it. You could easily wear this for a graduation event with a little less of the dramatic flow of cloth trailing behind you, of course.
Hope you enjoyed this little review & fashion inspiration!
